“Those Who Helped Us” is a graphic novel about allies who helped Japanese Americans during the WWII incarceration. Basketball-loving Sumiko Tanaka, then 11, narrates this graphic novel about the World War II incarceration of Japanese Americans.

About the Director
Randy Eng is a video producer, photographer, editor and animator with the City of Seattle’s Seattle Channel. Hired in 2015, he produces content that highlights Seattle’s underserved or underrepresented communities. Prior to this, he spent 22 years as a news videographer/editor/producer with KING-TV, the NBC affiliate in Seattle, Wash. Over the course of his career, Randy has received 12 Emmy Award (Northwest Region) and 18 First Place National Government Programming Awards (NATOA), along with countless Honorable Mentions and nominations.

Born and raised in Seattle, Wash., Randy is the youngest of three siblings. He is a University of Washington graduate (1990). He has two grown children (18 and 23). His son is also an Emmy Award-winning independent filmmaker as well. Randy currently lives in Sammamish, Wash.
