Newly installed artwork at the Bainbridge Island Japanese American Exclusion Memorial recalls the day of March 30, 1942; 227 Bainbridge Islanders of Japanese descent, most American citizens, departed from this site for wartime exile.

About the Director
Katie Jennings lives with her husband on Bainbridge Island, Washington. Formerly a documentary producer for Seattle public television, then an educational media specialist for the outdoor learning center IslandWood, she now heads New Canoe Media, which specializes in preserving and disseminating cultural knowledge. New Canoe clients include tribes, community groups, museums, universities, artists and scientists.
